Daikin VRV 5 contributes to the green building award
FRANCE: Daikin VRV 5 series heat pump air conditioners contribute to the low carbon footprint of a new commercial office complex in Grenoble.
Co-developed with the Banque des Territoires and supported by the Artea group, a major player in real estate in France and Europe, the new Arteparc tertiary complex comprises more than 25,000 m2 of floor space, spread over six buildings. The first three have now been completed using Daikin’s VRV system.
The project stands out for its high quality design and construction, built to obtain BBC Effinergie E2C-1 certification and comply with French RE2020 regulations, which aim to reduce both energy consumption and carbon impact. life of new buildings.
Keen to reduce its carbon impact, the Artea Group has explored all aspects of construction, from a rooftop solar power plant to a composite facade cladding made from 95% recycled wood chips, high-performance insulation and systems energy-efficient air conditioning.
These efforts have been rewarded with an HQE Excellent certificate from the French Haute Qualité Environnementale ecological construction label.

The complex also includes a choice of restaurants on the terraces and rooftops, coworking spaces, an organic grocery store, sports facilities, an indoor cycle path and charging stations for electric vehicles in the parking lot.
Daikin was commissioned to supply air conditioning systems for four new buildings. A total of 102 VRV 5-S units with a mix of 4, 5 and 6 hp models were installed, connected to 465 indoor units. The study carried out during development also looked at the airflows in order to optimize the entire installation. The system will be monitored to further optimize the energy efficiency of the VRV solution.
The project was a collaboration between the Artea group, the Ingégroup design office, the French installer Climacool and the technical management Daikin.
Artea’s plans for the second phase of installation, scheduled for the end of 2022, include Daikin’s latest VRV 5 heat recovery units.
