Nortech Systems Launches New Active Optical Xtreme (AOX™) Solution for Machine Vision and Factory Automation | Business
MINNEAPOLIS–(BUSINESS WIRE)–April 28, 2022–
Nortech Systems Incorporated (Nasdaq: NSYS) (the “Company”), a global leader in specialty design and manufacturing solutions for complex electrical and electromedical components, announced this week the launch of its all-new active optical technology platform, Active Optical Xtreme (AOX). AOX is a small form factor hybrid solution providing power, control and data transmission over longer distances required for use in machine vision systems, industrial automation, robotics and sensing devices smart.
- Hybrid fiber optic and copper USB-C cable solution delivers power, control and data over longer cable lengths
- Improved bandwidth efficiency and data integrity over traditional multi-cable solutions
- Ideal for applications requiring lightweight, small footprint, environmentally friendly and long range data generation devices such as image capture, vision and geo-sensitive imagery systems
Requires fewer cables, less panel and CPU space
AOX is a hybrid design technology that integrates transceivers, receivers, and fiber optics into the cable to transmit significantly more data than an equal number of copper cables.
“AOX delivers the power of traditional copper cables, plus the high-quality data of fiber optics in a single cable,” said Jay D. Miller, CEO of Nortech. “Nortech’s AOX technology is highly customizable and is designed to connect smart devices over longer distances in demanding environments such as automated factories.
Designed to optimize power supply and data integrity over longer distances, AOX offers a range of highly flexible and resilient solutions. The integrated electronics are protected by rugged and durable housing and connector arrangements. This single-cable solution reduces design complexity and streamlines the supply chain compared to cluttered multi-cable setups.
Ideal for custom and complex machine vision applications
“The rapid growth of edge computing demands long-range data and power. Our customers also understand the global ESG trend that requires risk reduction in an environmentally sustainable supply chain,” Miller said. “AOX is designed to help address these challenges by incorporating optical fiber with reductions in copper content. Fiber requires far less energy to operate throughout its life cycle and eliminates the mining processes associated with copper, while delivering dramatically increased performance. Nortech is very excited about the opportunities these innovations provide.
Adoption of AOX will accelerate through 2022 and will not materially impact Nortech’s financial results in 2022. For more information on AOX, please visit the Nortech Systems website.
